A personal favorite theme of my photography is benches. Set up in such a huge variety of places…some for a good view, some for a timely rest, some just for waiting for a bus. But they are a place of pondering beauty and creation when the view is good, or a moment of sabbath when it is needed. This one rests along the coast road in Arica, Chile. A stifflingly dry climate. What I find intriguing is that the front legs don’t even touch the ground any more…just metal pegs connecting bench to earth. Who would want to sit there? Well, the view is of the Pacific and with a perfect sunset, everyone would find it a serendipitous bench. I was just an hour or two early.
